January 29, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / January 29, 2014

WASHINGTON— The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) announced today that Chip McLean, Senior Vice President, Business Development & Business Affairs for the Disney Music Group (DMG), is joining the NMPA’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. McLean was elected at the organization’s December 2013 meeting.

"As we face a changing marketplace and new opportunities for music publishers, the benefit of having Chip’s experience and leadership on NMPA’s Board cannot be overstated,” said Irwin Z. Robinson, chairman of the NMPA Board. “It’s with great pleasure that I welcome him.”

NMPA president and CEO David Israelite added, “Chip’s experience in a growing publishing company like Disney provides valued perspective and strengthens the already great Board leadership in place. I thank him, and all of our Board members, for their commitment to the songwriting and music publishing community.”

McLean also serves as Senior Vice President/General Manager of Buena Vista Concerts, DMG’s concert production and licensing arm and is the Walt Disney Company’s senior executive responsible for Disney Music Publishing (DMP). At DMP, McLean’s responsibilities include negotiating deals to sign top contemporary songwriters to the roster, collaborating with DMP’s global publishing partners, and developing new strategic initiatives to leverage Disney’s music catalog.  Over his nearly eight-year tenure with Disney, McLean has developed and implemented innovative business initiatives and strategic alliances for the company.

“It is an honor for Disney Music Publishing to be represented on the NMPA Board and for us to be afforded the opportunity to collaborate so closely with other leading music publishers during such an exciting and challenging time for the music business,” said McLean. “We are looking forward to contributing more directly to the NMPA’s efforts in protecting, promoting and advancing the interests of its music publisher members and music creators generally. Although we are a relatively small music publisher, it is our hope that, as part of one of the world’s premiere media companies, we will be able to bring a unique perspective to the dialogue.”
