NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters for October 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NMPA today announced the top songwriters and 232 certifications of hit songs for October as part of its Gold & Platinum Program which identifies and honors songwriters of RIAA-certified hits.
In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters of RIAA-certified singles. RIAA counts both sales and on-demand streams towards its Gold (500K), Platinum (1M) and Multi-Platinum (2M+) thresholds. Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.
The top songwriter with six certifications is Justin Bieber (UMPG): Sorry certified Multi-Platinum; Cold Water certified Platinum and Gold; Let Me Love You certified Platinum and Gold; and Company certified Platinum.
Four songwriters tied with three certifications each:
Andrew Taggart of Chainsmokers (Sony/ATV): Roses, Don’t Let Me Down and Closer all certified Multi-Platinum.
Ashley Gorley (Atlas/Combustion, Warner/Chappell): I See You certified Platinum and Gold; and Play It Again certified Gold.
Darold Durard Brown (Sony/ATV): Work Remix certified Platinum and Gold; and Shabba certified Gold.
Benjamin Levin, aka Benny Blanco (UMPG): Cold Water certified Platinum and Gold; and Octahate certified Gold.
