NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters for May 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – NMPA today announced the top songwriters and 349 certifications of hit songs for May as part of its Gold & Platinum Program which identifies and honors songwriters of RIAA-certified hits.
In partnership with the RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Program, NMPA finds and certifies the songwriters of RIAA-certified singles. RIAA counts both sales and on-demand streams towards its Gold (500K), Platinum (1M) and Multi-Platinum (2M+) thresholds. Thousands of songwriters have been recognized since NMPA’s program began in 2007.
The top songwriters tied with five certifications are:
Max Martin (Kobalt): Hot N Cold and Unconditionally both certified Multi-Platinum; Chained To The Rhythm certified Platinum and Gold; and Rise certified Gold.
Katy Perry (Warner/Chappell): Hot N Cold and Unconditionally both certified Multi-Platinum; Chained To The Rhythm certified Platinum and Gold; and Rise certified Gold.
The next top songwriters tied with four certifications are:
Big Sean (UMPG): I Don’t F*ck With You and Clique both certified Multi-Platinum; and I Know and One Man Can Change The World both certified Platinum.
Lukasz Gottwald (Kobalt): Hot N Cold and Unconditionally both certified Multi-Platinum; and How To Be A Heartbreaker and Primadonna both certified Gold.
