NMPA Announces Top Gold & Platinum Songwriters and Certifications for Second Quarter of 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) Gold & Platinum Program today announced the top songwriters for the second quarter of 2021, including the top artist-songwriter and top non-performing songwriter for this period.
During April, May and June, 2147 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum certifications were awarded. Post Malone was the top artist-songwriter overall with 27 certifications including 11-time Multi-Platinum Congratulations. The top non-performing songwriter was his frequent collaborator, Louis Bell, with 23 certifications for hits with artists including Halsey and Justin Bieber. Both Malone and Bell are published by Universal Music Publishing Group.
NMPA President & CEO David Israelite congratulated the honorees saying, “Post Malone and Louis Bell both achieved an astounding number of certifications this quarter – including a Diamond certification. Working with artists from Kehlani to Ozzy Ozborne, Post Malone continues to rewrite the script when it comes to spanning genres as a creator. Louis Bell has proven that he is the common denominator when it comes to hit music from today’s top artists. His work individually and with Post Malone on co-written songs like Wow, Better Now and Psycho are legendary. We congratulate them both and can’t wait to see what they do next.”
Louis Bell commented on the honor saying “It’s always a blessing when something you love with all your heart is appreciated by so many, definitely makes all the long hours worth it.”
