NMPA Announces Charlotte Sellmyer as Vice President of Communications

WASHINGTON — The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) today announced Charlotte Sellmyer as its new Vice President of Communications.  In this role, Sellmyer will manage all communications plans and strategies for the association, including continuing to position NMPA as the leading voice in the fight to protect the songs and related rights of NMPA member music publishers and their songwriting partners.

“The breadth and depth of Charlotte's knowledge and experience will help make our team even stronger,” said NMPA President and CEO David Israelite. “She has been an extremely effective communicator here in Washington and we're excited to have her join NMPA.”

Sellmyer currently serves as Communications Director for the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security under Chairman Michael McCaul, where she manages the Committee's press team and serves as spokesperson for Chairman McCaul and the Committee.

“Charlotte has been an integral part of the Committee from day one,” said Chairman Michael McCaul. “While we are sad to lose her as a critical member of our team, I know her knowledge base, passion and talent as a communicator make her uniquely qualified to excel in her new role. We wish her the best in her next endeavor and will miss her greatly.”

Sellmyer previously served as Press Secretary for the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary under Chairman Lamar Smith.  There, she managed message development on a range of issues as well as social and digital media. Previously, she has worked as a newspaper staff writer and in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Public Affairs Office.  In addition to her communications background, Sellmyer is a professional photographer and her work has appeared in the New York Times and POLITICO, among other publications, and has also  been displayed in the Rayburn House Office Building.

She is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University and holds a B.S. in political science and a minor in journalism. Her first day with NMPA will be June 9.
