Jody H Klein
Jody H Klein is currently owner and CEO of ABKCO Music & Records, Inc, the seminal music publishing and record label for an incredibly diverse catalog including compositions and corresponding master recordings by Sam Cooke (“You Send Me”, “Having A Party”), Bobby Womack (“Breezin’”, “Across 110th Street”), Ray and Dave Davies (“Lola”, “Waterloo Sunset”), and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and “Jumping Jack Flash.”
One of the few remaining family-owned independent companies in the music industry – the company, with Klein at its helm, has continued to value its consistent and ongoing relationship with its writers and their heirs with continued support and involvement in the MLC, and by providing experience to help maintain and develop writer legacy status. This has also been achieved by integrating licensing and innovative cross promotional opportunities including legitimate theatre and film. Klein’s business relationships with directors and artists have led to ABKCO’s involvement in award winning Grammy, Oscar, BAFTA, Lion and Clio projects. He has also served as Producer for the film One Night In Miami… (based on the Olivier-nominated play by the same name), which features “Speak Now,” a Golden Globe and Oscar-nominated original song.
Klein currently serves on several boards, including the Board of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the IMPEL Board (for which he is also a founding member).
Prior to his appointment in 2006, Klein was Managing Director of ABKCO’s eleven worldwide wholly owned publishing subsidiaries. Under his leadership, ABKCO has been a strong advocate for writers and artists through legislation, litigation, and support of writer organizations.
