NMPA SONGS Foundation Launches with First-Annual Golf Tournament Featuring Charles Kelley, Josh Kelley, Mark Bryan, Brett James, Scott Stapp and Many Others
Songwriter Showcase to Kick-Off Event on Monday, Oct. 5
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Next Tuesday, 20 of the top songwriters in the U.S. will join music industry executives and donors at The Country Club at Woodmore for a golf tournament to raise money for the NMPA SONGS (Supporting Our Next Generation of Songwriters) Foundation.
The Foundation is a 501(c)3 corporation and seeks to provide grants to aspiring songwriters who are struggling in the age of streaming. Founded this year, the charity also aims to provide grants to composition education programs. The NMPA SONGS Foundation Board consists of NMPA President & CEO David Israelite, singer-songwriter Jewel, songwriter Kara DioGuardi, Razor & Tie founder Craig Balsam, Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI) President Lee Thomas Miller, Reservoir Media Management founder Golnar Khosrowshahi, NMPA General Counsel Danielle Aguirre and NMPA VP of Communications, Charlotte Sellmyer.
“We are thrilled to have so many incredible songwriters in town to support those who hope to follow in their footsteps,” said NMPA SONGS Foundation President David Israelite. “Today, with the decline of music sales and the rise of streaming companies who fail to pay creators fairly, it has become harder and harder to make it as a working songwriter. This Foundation will award individuals with songwriting talent and ambition with grants so that they can continue offering their craft to the culture at large.”
