NMPA Applauds Senate Efforts to Deter Piracy on College Campuses

Washington, DC – National Music Publishers’ Association President and Chief Executive Officer David M. Israelite today praised efforts by the U.S. Senate to deter the illegal swapping of music and movies on college campuses.

Earlier this week, the Senate unanimously passed a resolution urging colleges and universities to curb unauthorized downloading on school computer systems and to educate students about piracy.

“We thank the Senate for its efforts to deter piracy on college campuses,” Israelite said. “College students who illegally swap music aren’t engaging in harmless activity. They are stealing from the men and women who have worked so hard to create the songs fans love.”
