November 19, 2009 “Today’s action is another important hurdle cleared in the process of installing our nation’s first Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator. On behalf of the thousands of individuals in the music publishing and songwriting industries, I extend thanks to the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, its Chairman Patrick Leahy and Ranking Member Jeff Sessions. “Victoria Espinel is an excellent choice for this role, which requires working with agencies across the government to improve efficiency and effectiveness. “We look forward to quick action by the full Senate so she can begin the important task of providing leadership and coordination to the government’s work on intellectual property rights enforcement.” About the NMPA Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) is the trade association representing American music publishers and their songwriting partners. The NMPA’s mandate is to protect and advance the interests of music publishers and songwriters in matters relating to the domestic and global protection of music copyrights. |
