| Statement from President and CEO David Israelite RE: Introduction of the International Intellectual Property Protection |
|
“Songwriters and music publishers welcome introduction of the International Intellectual Property Protection and Enforcement Act of 2008. This is a forward-looking plan that recognizes America’s future economic strength and growth depend on global respect for intellectual property rights. The legislation provides much-needed authority and resources for the U.S. Trade Representative to act on behalf of American intellectual property rights, to the benefit of American workers. I am grateful for the leadership of sponsors Sen. Max Baucus and Sen. Orrin Hatch. The NMPA stands ready to work with them toward passage of this important plan.” About the NMPA Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) is a trade association representing American music publishers. The NMPA’s mandate is to protect and advance the interests of music publishers and their songwriter partners in matters relating to the domestic and global protection of music copyrights. |
