NMPA Announces New Board Member,
Election of Board Officers for 2008
WASHINGTON—National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) President and CEO David Israelite today announced that Neil Gillis, President of S1 Songs America, has joined NMPA’s Board of Directors and that Irwin Z. Robinson, Chairman of Paramount Allegra Music, will continue in his role as Board Chairman.

“The NMPA continues to benefit immeasurably from the commitment and expertise of our board,” Israelite said. “I am grateful to each of them both professionally and personally. Neil Gillis will be an excellent addition to the group and will serve the entire NMPA organization well.”

Board members are all active U.S. music publishers. They serve two-year terms. Mr. Gillis is filling a vacancy left by the passing of Arnold Broido, who was President of the Theodore Presser Company and served on the Board for more than 20 years.

Prior to his current role at S1 Songs America, Mr. Gillis was President and CEO of Dimensional Music Publishing, LLC (DMP). He has also served as the General Manager (East Coast) for the Concord Music Group (CMG), spent 16 years at Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), and served as Head of International for Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI). He has lectured on numerous campuses, contributed to many industry books, was author of a regular business column in “Performing Songwriter”, and is a composer and a classically trained French horn player and jazz trained guitar player.  

Mr. Gillis also serves on the boards of the BMI Foundation, the New York Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) and the Johnny Mercer Foundation.

The NMPA also announced its 2008 Board Officers:

· Treasurer: Evan Medow, Principal, Secret Sauce Music Publishing
· Assistant Treasurer: Freddy Bienstock, Chairman and CEO, Carlin America, Inc.
