FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 18, 2007 NMPA Commends Passage of House Omnibus Appropriations Bill For Immediate Release (December 18, 2007) – National Music Publishers’ Association President and CEO David Israelite today released the following statement regarding the passage of the House Omnibus Appropriations Bill, which ensures that the CRB will no longer be funded by copyright owners and creators. “The National Music Publishers' Association applauds the passage of the House Omnibus Appropriations Bill, which contains an important provision that will fund the salaries and benefits of the Copyright Royalty Board (CRB). For too long, a small amount of copyright owners, including songwriters and music publishers, have funded the costs of the CRB through their royalties. I thank Legislative Branch Subcommittee Chairwoman Wasserman Schultz for her leadership and support on this important matter." About the NMPA Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) is a trade association representing more than 700 American music publishers. The NMPA’s mandate is to protect and advance the interests of music publishers and their songwriter partners in matters relating to the domestic and global protection of music copyrights.
