National Music Publishers’ Association Increases Office Staff
Washington, DC – National Music Publishers’ Association President and CEO David M. Israelite announced today that the trade organization has hired Kathryn E. Wagner as Vice President and Counsel.  Wagner has extensive intellectual property and litigation experience.

Wagner will help manage NMPA’s litigation efforts on behalf of music publishers and songwriters.  She will also work on the organization’s legislative and policy initiatives. Wagner will report directly to Jacqueline Charlesworth, NMPA Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

In addition, Jamie Marotta has been promoted to Director of Member Relations and NMPA’s Political Action Committee. Marotta will also focus her attention on the recently unveiled NMPA Gold and Platinum Composition Award.

NMPA has also added a new Executive Assistant to its staff. Elizabeth Young is a recent graduate of the George Washington University, where she majored in sociology.

“These recent hires and promotion mean new energy invigorating our efforts,” Israelite said. “NMPA will be stronger than ever.”

Wagner joins the NMPA after 10 years practicing in the Litigation group at Pryor Cashman LLP, where she specialized in intellectual property, corporate and securities litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. She has litigated numerous high-profile cases involving copyright infringement, trademark and Lanham Act unfair competition, and music publishing and film distribution contracts.

“Katie’s experience and expertise will bolster the work NMPA is doing on behalf of music publishers and songwriters,” Israelite said. “We are very excited to have her as a part of the NMPA team.”

Wagner received her J.D. from Tulane University and her B.A. from Duke University.

“I value creative work and look forward to representing the interests of music publishers and songwriters as the industry continues to evolve,” Wagner said.

Wagner’s first day at work is August 7, 2007.
