For Immediate Release (March 27, 2006) – The National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) today announced that it has retained Corallo Media Strategies (CMS) to direct its public relations efforts. The NMPA represents more than 600 American music publishers and their songwriting partners, and advocates on their behalf to ensure their rights are protected. CMS will create a media strategy for the NMPA to inform the public about the issues affecting music publishers and songwriters. Anna Marie Persky, a CMS Principal, will oversee the NMPA account. “As we continue to increase our presence in Washington, we need a more integrated communications team to get our message to music publishers, songwriters and the media,” said David Israelite, NMPA’s President and CEO. “The experienced communications experts at CMS will help us reach those within the music industry and beyond. We are thrilled that Anna Persky, a lawyer and former Washington, DC-based journalist, will lead this effort. ” CMS is a leader in media services. Specializing in crisis communications, federal litigation, national security issues and Congressional affairs, CMS has extensive national media contacts and an established record for crafting and maintaining successful public relations strategies. A journalist for more than a decade, Persky most recently directed Fox News Channel’s reporting on the U.S. Justice Department and the U.S. Supreme Court. Before that, she reported on intellectual property and legal issues for Bloomberg News and the Los Angeles Daily Journal. She has a law degree from the University of California, Davis and is a member of the California Bar Association. Mark Corallo is the Founder and Principal Managing Member of CMS. The former Public Affairs Director for the U.S. Justice Department, Corallo is a veteran Washington communicator. He has served as Press Secretary for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform and for U.S. Representative Bob Livingston (R-LA). During the 2000 Presidential Campaign, Corallo took a leave of absence from Congress to serve as Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee’s campaign effort. About the NMPA Founded in 1917, the National Music Publishers’ Association’s mandate is to protect and advance the interests of music publishers and their songwriter partners in matters relating to the domestic and global protection of music copyrights. The Harry Fox Agency, Inc., a subsidiary of the NMPA, is the premier U.S. mechanical rights organization. |
